Katalysers Fire & Process Safety Solutions and Supplies

Engineered for safety.Built for reliability.

Integrated fire protection, process safety, risk engineering and equipment supply for industrial, commercial and infrastructure facilities.

Who we are

We help clients identify hazards, strengthen safeguards and develop practical protection solutions across the facility lifecycle.

Katalysers provides fire protection engineering, process safety and risk consultancy, firefighting equipment sourcing, and project support for industrial, commercial and infrastructure facilities.

Our roots in process engineering and process safety keep each fire protection decision tied to the process hazards behind it, from assessment and design to supply, testing and maintenance.

  1. Identify hazards

Credible fire, explosion and process scenarios, their consequences and the safeguards already in place.

  2. Strengthen safeguards

Gaps in detection, protection and emergency response, closed with practical risk-reduction measures.

  3. Protect across the lifecycle

One continuous scope from assessment and design through supply, testing and maintenance.

Explore how a credible scenario shapes protection

Choose a hazard. Consequence modelling turns it into contours that the layout, the buildings and the safety systems are checked against.

Plot plan with illustrative hazard contours for the selected scenario. Numbered markers match the notes beside the drawing.
Illustrative thermal radiation contours from a tank bund fire. Criteria and acceptance limits are agreed for each project with the client and the authority having jurisdiction.
  1. Credible scenario

A pool fire in the tank bund, carried forward from the hazard review as a credible fire scenario.

    • HAZID
    • Fire Risk Assessment
  2. 37.5 kW/m²: process equipment

Enough to damage process equipment. Tanks inside this contour are reviewed for cooling water and fireproofing.

    • FERA
    • PFP gap assessment
  3. 12.5 kW/m²: escalation

The level at which wood can ignite and plastic tubing melts. The pipe rack inside it is screened for escalation.

    • Consequence modelling
    • FERA
  4. 4.7 kW/m²: people and buildings

Roughly the limit for brief emergency action in protective clothing. The control room falls partly inside, so its occupants and location are assessed.

    • Building Risk Assessment
    • Facility siting
  5. Firewater coverage

Ring main, hydrants and monitors are checked against the worst credible demand.

Fire & process safety consultancy

Risk-informed engineering for safer facilities, stronger safeguards and informed decisions. Our fire, explosion and process safety studies follow the path a hazard takes, from first identification to day-to-day operation.

  1. 1

    Identify

Find what can go wrong and the safeguards already in place.

    • HAZID / HAZOP / LOPA

Identify process hazards, deviations, safeguards and risk-reduction measures through structured workshops.

    • Fire Risk Assessment (FRA)

Identify credible fire scenarios, ignition sources, consequences, existing safeguards and risk-reduction actions.

  2. 2

    Model

Predict how far fire, explosion and toxic effects reach.

    • Consequence Modelling

Model pool and jet fires, flash fires, gas dispersion, toxic releases and explosion overpressure as applicable.

    • Fire & Explosion Risk Assessment (FERA)

Evaluate fire, explosion and escalation hazards, including radiation and overpressure consequences.

  3. 3

    Assess

Test people, buildings and layout against those effects.

    • Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)

Combine event frequencies and consequences to assess individual and societal risk where required.

    • Building Risk Assessment (BRA)

Assess building exposure to thermal radiation, explosion overpressure, toxic releases and other facility hazards.

    • Facility Siting Study

Review control rooms, occupied buildings, refuges and other locations against credible hazardous events.

Fire protection engineering

Protection systems sized from credible fire scenarios and documented to the standards specified for each project, designed to work as one system rather than separate packages.

Simplified integrated fire protection system A firewater tank feeds jockey, main and standby fire pumps into a firewater ring main with hydrants, a monitor and isolation valves. Branches supply a deluge water spray system over a process vessel on fireproofed supports, a foam system for a storage tank, and sprinklers in a building, where a server room is protected by a clean-agent system behind a fire-rated wall and door. Flame, gas and smoke detectors signal a fire alarm and fire and gas panel, which starts the pumps and opens the deluge valve.
